My friend has been in JROTC for all of high school. This year he is a senior. He’s been in the Boy Scouts since elementary school, he made Eagle Scout back in September. He turns 18 in April.
He wants to join the army. He’s been told because of his activities, he will attain the rank of PFC (E-3) right out of boot camp. Normally one has to be in 6-12 months with at least 2-4 months as Private (E-2) before eligible for promotion.
They also told him most E-4′s were Specialists and not Corporals, but most people with his type of experience make Corporal, not Specialist within a year’s service.
Seems a lot of average recruits will not make PFC until their rank automatically increases.
He sees this as a fast track to leadership in the Army. I tell him it was all an interesting experience, but he doesn’t have to join the Army, and none of these promotions seem to be guaranteed. If you had this experience, did it help you? Thanks.
His first choice for MOS is 88M–Motor Transport Operator (truck driver) I keep telling him it would be easier to go to driving school.

TEEN screwing up in life..Tried but CANT change..HELP PARENTS?

Ok we’ll I’m one of those guys in the bad crowd I’ll say..But i like the crowd I’m with. My mom “thinks” I’m a great kid, and all and i just want to change but i can’t. I used to get punished when i was younger and on a good path and would learn from the punishments. I just kinda think now my mom isn’t really doing that because she doesn’t see my life, and i just needed advice? I hurt peoples feelings, insulted peoples kids, broke up multiple relationships(sneakingly with me behind everything without people knowing i was involved), got involved in a gang(out now), skipped school, got pressured into weed (only 2 puffs 2 different times), etc Alot of stuff. I even insulted this gang member girls dead mother who lives in a different state. I usually attempt to stop when i “think” I’m about to get in trouble but..when i don’t i go and take another chance.

I don’t know how i got here and so careless. I’d like to change or be punished or whatever but I don’t really know. By the way guys I’m a submissive type of guy, so I’m not one of those violent people. I’m not submissive around society just females in person, boys I don’t really start problems with, I’m known as the guy always joking around…

Anyways i was talking to someone and he suggested joining a domestic discipline relationship? He said it’s not sexual & it will help. I’m interested..

I’ve just been doing really bad sneakishly things..any suggestions? I’m not asking my mom for help, so no advice on it. isn’t there like a program i can join? You get punished or what ever or u want to change but are more in the influence of not? Oh and I’m not joining boot camp or none of that..

I always hated corporal punishment, but I’m willing to accept that if that’s what will help me change, it always did when i got it. Now i find the stuff i do funny, back then i would of thought it was messed up…Serious answers only.

any program or something?

Oh and for you nuisances who say physical punishment is abusive its NOT. I would know if i got it, i believe lots of people who aren’t getting it that i know should have.

Who agrees with the FL Boot Camp security guards not being held accountable for killing that teen?

one recruit, from brooklyn, wansnt doing what he was suppose to do. our platoon guide asked the DI can he bring this recruit in the whiskey locker to “square him away”. we were having class right by the whiskey locker. they both entered the whiskey locker. after about 40 seconds, there was a rumbling in the whiskey locker. the DI just continued with class. i said to myself, the guide is killing this recruit from brooklyn! in my minds eye i can just see the platoon guide throwing this kid around in there and beating him up. suddenly the whiskey locker door flew open, the platoon guide was desperate to run out, he was PULLED back inside by the kid from brooklyn, and after about 2 more minutes of loud noises and rumbling, they both came out, the platoon guide had got his butt kicked by the kid from brooklyn. he had two shiners and bruises all over and the kid from brooklyn only walked out with a smile on his face! i thought it was so funny. the DI immediately fired the platoon guide!
okidoki: i went to marine corps boot camp 26 years ago and back then, you were “phusically” motivated from time to time. its the bleeding heart liberals who kinda put a stop to it but i believe yo a point it is still going on, ask any Marine who been to boot camp within the last 15 years or so

Ok.. My ex and I have been “together” for 7 months. We have broken up around 4 times. We say we love each other but the truth is I don’t know what love is.. He cheated on me 4 times in 1 week. One of which was with my “best” friend. But every time we got back together and worked our problems out and as soon as it seemed like everything was going great something new would come up. He never took me on dates, I always had to drive to his house or pick him up to come to mine, he drinks even though I beg him not to, he even got sent to boot camp for being in a fight a few years ago. My friends tell me he’s not worth it and that I can do better than him.. I think that’s because he is Mexican though. This boy and me have started talking since the last time we broke up (when he cheated on me) and I think we have worked everything out.. He asked me to go to the movies this weekend and he said he would drive. He hasn’t been in a fight for over 3 months, and he hasn’t drank or gone to parties for a while. He is the sweetest guy that I know and he knows me more than anyone; he pays attention to me. He has never laid a hand on me and he always stops being ‘physical’ when I ask him to. I think he got the hint that if he chooses to not change anything than he will lose me for good… so now my problem is: Should I consider taking him back and go out with him this weekend, or should I kick him to the curb and leave him there?

I’m sorry that this was so long. I had to fit as much as I could in for you to get an idea of him.. Thank you.

I’m 18 years old, I am a teen parent.. i have 2 month old twins. I am have a full time job and i am a part time student. I work first shift [4 am to 12 noon], and i go to school at night, three times a week, i like this schedule because i can spend time with my kids and my mother doesn’t have to constantly babysit them. i think it’s extremely important to spend time with my kids and watch them grow up. i live with my boyfriend, but he is currently away at boot camp. i’m usually not an emotional person but lately i’ve been feeling really down and i’m constantly crying. i usually handle stress well so i don’t know what’s going on. i don’t think its postpartum depression because it’s already been two months since my kids were born. as far money goes, i’m not having any trouble paying bills and keeping up with payments. i just want to know if i should go see a psychologist or something because this is not normal behavior for me.
